Aluminum Alloy 6065 VS Aluminum Alloy 6005

6000 series high-strength aluminum alloy

Aluminum 6065 and aluminum 6005 are two aluminum metals with higher strength in the 6000 series. Compared with the common 6061 alloy, the application scenarios of 6065 and 6005 are not as extensive as 6061 aluminum alloy. Both 6005 and 6065 have thicker thickness specifications and are more often used as aluminum plate products. These two corrosion-resistant aluminum alloys have their own application scenarios and product characteristics.

The most common product form of 6065 aluminum metal is 6065 aluminum plate.

6065 aluminum alloy is mainly used in architectural decoration, transportation, electronic communications and other fields.

The excellent performance and wide application of 6065 make 6065 aluminum alloy a hot spot for research and application.

6065 aluminum alloy is a high-strength aluminum alloy mainly composed of aluminum, magnesium and silicon.

Its yield strength is usually between 300 MPa and 400 MPa, and its tensile strength is between 350 MPa and 450 MPa.

The density of 6065 aluminum alloy is about 2.7 g/cm3, which is relatively light. Its strength can be increased by heat treatment.

Common heat treatment methods include aging treatment (T6 state) and natural aging treatment (T4 state).

Due to the good corrosion resistance of aluminum, 6065 aluminum alloy has good corrosion resistance and good machinability in most environments, and can be processed by common metal processing methods such as milling, drilling, and cutting.

Aluminum alloy 6005 is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy material. It is mainly composed of aluminum, magnesium, silicon, zinc and other elements. The content of magnesium is the highest, which makes it have excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.

The chemical composition of aluminum alloy 6005 mainly includes aluminum, magnesium, silicon, zinc, manganese, chromium and other elements.

The content of aluminum is more than 99.5%, the content of magnesium is between 1.0-1.5%, the content of silicon is between 0.4-0.8%, the content of zinc is between 0.1-0.3%, the content of manganese is between 0.05-0.15%, and the content of chromium is between 0.05-0.15%. The reasonable ratio of these elements makes aluminum alloy 6005 have excellent performance.

The mechanical properties of aluminum alloy 6005 mainly include strength, hardness, toughness, etc. Its strength is generally between 400-600MPa, hardness is between HB14-32, and toughness is between 15-30J/m2. These excellent mechanical properties make aluminum alloy 6005 widely used in various high-strength and high-wear-resistant occasions.

The corrosion performance of aluminum alloy 6005 is mainly reflected in seawater corrosion resistance, atmospheric corrosion resistance, and chemical medium corrosion resistance. Its corrosion resistance mainly comes from the magnesium element in the alloy, which can combine with oxygen to form a dense oxide film to protect the alloy from further corrosion.
