1000 series aluminum alloys are composed of 99% or more aluminum, the purest of all aluminum alloys. The high aluminum content gives 1000 series aluminum metals unique properties suitable for a variety of applications, especially those that require high corrosion resistance, conductivity and machinability.
Properties of Aluminum Metal 1xxx Series
High Purity Aluminum Composition
1000 series alloys typically have an aluminum content of 99.0% or more, which gives them excellent corrosion resistance and conductivity. Some grades, such as 1050 and 1060, have aluminum contents of more than 99.5% and 99.6%, respectively. Common alloys include 1050 (99.5% aluminum), 1060 (99.6% aluminum) and 1100 (99% aluminum). 1 series aluminum alloys do not contain other complex technical elements, the production process of 1000 series aluminum alloys is relatively simple and the cost is relatively low.
Excellent corrosion resistance
Due to their high purity, 1000 series alloys have strong corrosion resistance, especially in natural environments (such as water or air) and less corrosive industrial environments. They are very suitable for applications where exposure to moisture or chemicals may cause other metals to degrade.
Excellent electrical and thermal conductivity
1000 series alloys have the highest electrical and thermal conductivity among aluminum alloys. The electrical conductivity of 1050 alloy is about 62% of copper, which makes it ideal for electrical applications such as conductors and transformer windings.
Good machinability and formability
1000 series pure aluminum alloys have high plasticity and can be easily cold-formed or bent without cracking, making them suitable for complex shapes and thin sections. Due to their easy processing, they are often used in sheet, foil and extrusion forms.
Excellent reflectivity
1000 series aluminum alloys have high reflectivity, especially for visible light and infrared, making them suitable for applications that require heat reflection or light management, and can be used as raw materials for mirror aluminum plates.
Excellent processing and welding performance
Good processing performance: 1000 series aluminum alloys are easy to process into various shapes and sizes, such as plates, strips, foils and extruded products.
Good welding performance: This series of aluminum alloys has good welding performance and can be connected by various welding methods such as gas welding, argon arc welding, spot welding, etc.
Wide range of pure aluminum applications
Conventional industry: Due to its cost-effectiveness, good processing performance and corrosion resistance, 1000 series aluminum alloys are widely used in conventional industries, such as kitchenware, decorative items and chemical equipment.
Special uses: High-purity aluminum (aluminum content above 99.9%) is mainly used in scientific experiments, chemical industry and special purposes.
